Accessing Universal Anywhere

  Requirements

To run Universal Anywhere you need to use remote desktop, which comes with Windows XP. This can be found by clicking Start in Windows, point to All Programs, and then point to Accessories and then Communications.Remote deskop can be found in this location. If you do not have remote deskop please click here

  Remote PC Setup

These instructions are for Windows XP so earlier versions of windows may have slightly different menu structures but the overall concept will be the same.

To connect Universal follow the steps below:

  1. On your computer, click Start, point to All Programs, and then point to Accessories.
  2. In the Accessories menu, point to Communications, and then click Remote Desktop Connection (as below)

  3. In the Computer box, type the computer name of your host computer.

  • Select the options button and then select the Local Resources tab along the top.
  • Check the box which says Disk Drives at the bottom. (Please note this only needs to be done on the initial login)

  • Make sure the Remote Desktop Size on the Display Tab is set to full screen. (Please note this only needs to be done on the initial login)
  • Click Connect.

  1. When the Log On to Windows dialog box appears, type your user name, password (these details are supplied on subscription to Universal Anywhere or with a trial session) click OK.

  1. The Remote Desktop window opens, and you see the desktop and you can now start running Universal Anywhere by clicking on the desktop icon. Your user session remains locked, and nobody can access it without a password. In addition, no one will be able to see the work you are doing remotely.

To end your Universal Anywhere session:

  1. Click Start, and then click Log Off at the bottom of the Start menu.
  2. When prompted, click Log Off.

  I do not have remote desktop on my computer

If you do not have remote destop on your computer there are two options:

Option 1:
It is possible to to use remote desktop from a machine running the 95, 98, ME or 2000 versions of Windows but you will have to download the Remote Desktop Connection Software from the following link

It is possible to connect to Universal anyhwere via a remote deskop web connection. To access this click on the link below:

Please note when you access website the first time, you might receive a warning similar to the following:

The Remote Desktop Web Connection uses an ActiveX component which will ask for your permission upon first access to automatically download and install itself on your computer. You must click YES. OR If you are running Windows XP you might receive the following message.

And click on the yellow bar on the top and choose to Install ActiveX or Allow Blocked Content, after a few seconds a message will come up, click Install.
