Google Street view is now incorporated into the Universal property search where available.This feature has the potential to greatly enhance a home hunters understanding of a neighbourhood, allowing them to view the property as well as the surrounding area.

What is Street View?

Street View is a feature of Google Maps that enables you to view and navigate 360 degree street level images of specific UK towns, and cities.


What areas of the UK is Street View available in?

UK MapFrom spring 2009 the Google Street view is available in the following cities and towns:

Aberdeen

Coventry

Liverpool

Sheffield

Belfast

Derby

London

Southampton

Birmingham

Dundee

Manchester

Swansea

Bristol

Edinburgh

Newcastle Upon Tyne

York

Bradford

Glasgow

Nottingham

 

Cambridge

Leeds

Oxford

 

How is the images created?

Street View cars have been up and down the country with special cameras that take photographs as they drive down public streets. Once the photographs have been taken they go through computer processing to make them ready for use on Google Maps.

When enough data has been collected and processed for an area they add it to Google Maps. The maps are not in real time and there is a period of time from when the images are taken, to when the finally appear on Google maps.


How does this work with my property search?

Locate the streetGetting street view onto your website is simple if you have our property search already in your website. In Universal follow the steps below to get the street view on your properties.

1.

Select the property in Universal

2.

Click on the locate button to open the longitude and latitude finder

3.

Now enter the postcode or town/city to locate the area

4.

Simply drag the icon to the correct position on the map and save, close

5.

Check the street view using the button under the postcode.

6.

Sync to your website and the property will now have a street view link.

   

To activate the Street view function on your website, go to Tools/Maintenance/Property Search. Here you will find a tick box called street view, click this and upload to your website to activate.

Alternatively call 0845 83 82 666 for this to be activated.

Please note this tool is only available where Google street view exists.
